Steamboat Mountain is a troublesome street , and truckers who pull the Alaska Highway approach it with deference. Especially in the winter, the street bends and curves over the mountain and sheer precipices drop away pointedly from the cold street. Innumerable trucks and truckers have been lost there and numerous more will take after their last tracks. On one excursion up the expressway, I happened upon the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and a few wreckers winching the remaining parts of a semi up the precarious bluff. I stopped my apparatus and headed toward the tranquil gathering of truckers who were viewing the destruction gradually become visible.
