Singer Alex Boye teamed up with the BYU Men’s Chorus, and the result is definitely one of the best things you’ll hear and see today. If this is the first time you’ve heard about Alex Boye, you should know he’s a British-American singer and actor.
The singer’s parents, however, are both from Nigeria, and Alex has always embraced his Nigerian heritage, even though he has never met his father. He is a big promoter of Nigeria and its culture, and this interest translates into his music as well.
His life hasn’t always been easy, though. His mom left him one day saying he was going back to Nigeria for a couple of days and only returned eight years later. For a while, Alex lived in a neighborhood that has often been described as “tough”.
As a young boy and teen, Alex spent of his time in foster homes, where he would often feel alone. He took comfort in listening to the music of Motown, including artists Stevie Wonder, Kool and the Gang, James Brown, Marvin Gaye.
His luck changed one day when he was sixteen years old. Alex was working in a fast food restaurant where he had the fortune of meeting a manager who introduced him to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church).
Soon after that encounter, he was baptized and his life suddenly took a turn for the better. Today he is one of the best singers and proof that you can always turn your life around as long as you have faith.
This is one of those videos that you’ll want to watch over and over again.
