In an attempt to make healthier choices, many of us have made a compromise and replaced drinking regular coke with its diet, seemingly healthier version. But is it really the safer option? Well, don’t kill the messenger, but all recent studies indicate that it’s actually not.
Drinking fizzy drinks is bad for you – and that unfortunately includes diet sodas. Although they are advertised as being healthier because they don’t contain as much sugar as other regular soda, diet soda is actually just as bad. The only difference is that it’s not the sugar that is causing the most damage.
The damaging effects of diet soda start to kick in as early as an hour after you’ve had that first sip. The aspartame in it starts by tricking your taste buds into thinking the drink actually tastes sweet. At the same time, the phosphoric acid will almost immediately start to attack your teeth.
The soda basically sucks the calcium from your bones and teeth making them more fragile and weaker.
And this is just the firsts of a long row of damaging effects.
So if you need an incentive to stop drinking your favorite diet soda today, this video should do the trick!
