For the courageous men and women serving in the army of the United States, every day spent in a combat zone could be their last. It’s a risk they are willing to take to protect the ideals and values that make this country great, and for that, they deserve our utmost respect and appreciation.
The young woman you will meet by watching the video below began her journey as a soldier in the army when she was only 23-years-old. It may seem young, but Marlene Rodriguez dreamed about the day she could enlist since she was just a little girl.
And after three combat tours, the Army Staff Sgt. was presented with a Purple Heart in 2013. Sadly, her career as a combat soldier ended due to her suffering a traumatic brain injury. However, she continued to work, and Marlene dedicated all of her resources to helping those who served in the army.
To thank for making a difference in the world, Ford chose her for their Go Further Award and put together a surprise for her that she will never forget.
